Thank you!

Just a quick note to say a huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored me for the Race for life.

I have exceeded my target of £250 already, which is fabulous!

I have a features writer from the Daily Record coming this week to tell my story, the reasons behind doing the Race for Life. Not sure about being in the papers again, had enough last year LOL, but if it helps get more sponsors or raise more awareness then how can I say no!

I promise to be here again soon with some new pictures of the boys etc and to update on how things are going at home with them.

Thanks for being with us!

Still here!

Hi everyone!

We are still in South Africa, just at the end of week 3 now and starting to miss home, well somethings about home!

We have been having a lovely time and been able to combine a relaxing time with some special activities with the boys.

So far we have released some balloons for Adam, been to Seal Island on a boat, this island is unique world wide as in it is home to 74,000 seals and is also the feeding ground of the great white shark in winter time (our summer), so we missed the sharks, thankfully!! We sailed right round the island - amazing, we also saw some whales too.

We have also been to Monkey Town and adopted a monkey for a year, unfortunately he will have to stay in Cape Town though as he doesn't have a passport!!! LOL

We have been to World of Birds, the Aquarium, water slides, done a bus tour though Cape Town, visited a number of different beaches around the cape peninsula and on Friday we did a half day safari.

Temperatures here have been much higher than we expected with us reaching up to 40 degrees C (104 degrees F), so far had only one dull day and it was still hot.

Today was the Cape Argus Pick N Pay Cycle Tour, this is a huge event here, and we were stuck at the house all day as the roads were all closed for the cycling, we went along to the end of the road to watch them for a bit, Matt Damon was cycling but he was lost among the other 34,999 riders, unfortunately!!!

So, only got one week to go until we get home, am looking forward to seeing and doing some things but I would happily stay here forever, I feel very close to Adam here, he loved it and this is the place he wanted to come last year. When he was first diagnosed and we were told the worst, we were also told to do as much as possible while he was still able. On asking him if he could do or go anywhere in the world, what or where would it be......he said he wanted to come here......to South Africa, however due to his condition it was decided, ultimately by us, that it would not be ideal. SO as you know we did loads of other things and gave us all new experiences together as a family instead of repeating one we had already had with him - twice!

Anyway, the only things we got left to do this next week is going to Boulders Beach to swim with the penguins and trying to get a tour of Green Point Stadium which is being built for World Cup 2010.

Take care and see you all when we get home......if we get on the plane that is!!! LOL

Hello from cape Town!

We are in cape Town for a few weeks as some of you know, to have a little quality time away fron the day to day stuff at home.

This trip was only made possible because of your fundraising before Christmas.

So far it's just what the doctor ordered and we are chilling out nicely.

It is also the first we have seen my brother Craig and his girlfriend Kira since June when they came over to Scotland for a visit.

So far in Africa the temperatures have been hot (well for us anyway), it's mad....we had snow at home last week and minus temperatures but this week we have seen temperatures up to and including 97 degrees.....a bit too hot!

The house we are staying in is lovely you can view it here . The pool has been fab for the boys, they love it......and I know Adam would have too - he was such was such a water baby! I do feel he is with us though.

We are going to release helium balloons while we are here for him as a wee ceremony for the kids (Craig and Kira too).

The internet I have while here is capped so I wont be uploading any photos or at least not many (until we get home) but you will get to see some on our return.

Thanks for taking this trip with us and pop back soon for more updates.

Welcome

Welcome to "Going one step beyond".

If you are here because you followed A journey with Adam, then thanks for joining us here. If you found us another way, then thanks too.

A journey with Adam has now closed, I decided to do this as we try to piece together our family life without Adam and try to move forward.

Although Adam is no longer with us physically we still feel him a very large part of our family and talk openly about him all the time. We hope you do too.

Our lives have been very difficult in the last 3 months and we are grateful for all your support.

Please join us on our new journey.
